Hurt feelings not a crime. Partial repeal of the Human Rights Act likely now.

Brian Storseth MP

As others reported, last week, Federal Justice Minister, Rob Nicholson, endorsed Brian Storseth's private member bill C-304 calling for the repeal of  Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act.  Amen to that!  This will probably go through.
Ezra Levant ("No more witch hunts") is my hero in this story and earlier reports from Russ Campbell (Days numbered?) and  from Chasing Apple Pie (Act will finally be toast). make the same point.
As Ezra wrote:  "The worst part of the law is Section 13 (which) creates a word crime — the crime of publishing or broadcasting anything that can cause hurt feelings".

Section 13 is three paragraphs in the Canadian Human Rights Act.

Remember Richard Warman, former CHRC employee, who filed all those internet complaints, and cheated?
Remember how kids decide if something's a problem?
"Sticks and stones can break my bones
but names will never hurt me".
Libel is still a crime but to all those folks who like public attention
but don't like being sassed or despised:
